Defining Customer Service
As a provider, customer service is a virtue because the support person is trying to assist the customer with his best intention and is a problem solver. I believe that as a provider, customer service is defined as the ability to implement best solutions to the person on the other side and emphasize with him. The provider can never offer exceptional service if he is not well-aware and compassionate about the situation the other person is facing (Wilson, Zeithaml and Bitner 124). As a customer, the person delivering the service is a problem solver who is the last resort of the customer. For the customer, the service provider is not someone who is supposed to do his work for him but is someone who can assist him with the process and remove any obstacles from the way so he can achieve the outcome.
What I Believe about Customer Service
As a provider of customer service, I believe that it is all about trying to understand the problem of the customer. From my own experience, I have observed that a support provider who is keen to understand my issue, turns out to be quick and efficient at assisting me. From the perspective of a customer, I believe that if the support provider is confident with what he says, I would feel happy and will be satisfied that my problem is being handled efficiently. Nevertheless, no matter if it is the service provider or the customer himself, it is all about the connection and bond these two people develop, how eager and knowledgeable the service provider is to deliver quality service and how detailed the customer is.
