One Person’s Contribution to the Business Community
As I contemplate the next step in education, my first choice is the University of California (USC). I am working toward a Master’s in Business Analytics, with specialization in quantitative research that focuses on a quantitative trading strategy. My research suggests that USC has the exact program I am looking for.
I believe that my training at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) made me proficient in significant areas of quantitative and business modules. These include database design, mathematics and statistics, and financial courses. This skillset is valuable both locally and internationally. This level of expertise places me at a comparable level with those with more work experience.
During my education, I participated in activities that improved my leadership skills. I served as the president of the Career Development Association for Undergraduates, and Financial Management clubs. I also organized a summer teaching program for poorly educated students in Tibet. This education program introduced these students to the fundamentals of business practice. This knowledge prepared them as potential entrepreneurs with the capacity and motivation to initiate small enterprises.
As the president of the Financial Management Club, I provided weekly financial training on futures and stocks. I instilled in the students an appreciation of the value of future-oriented business thinking.

The students in Tibet and the trainees of the Financial Management Club could benefit the business community as a skilled pool of potential trading partners, or as a source of new, ingenious business models.
I acquired more leadership experience by organizing an inter-university debate at UNNC called the China Debate Camp. This camp drew experienced debaters form nearly 40 international universities. As president of UNNC’s School Career Development Associations, I organized mock interview competitions. For the winners, I was able to arrange 30 summer internships opportunities through local employers. Being a positive leader comes naturally, and is very rewarding.
I have contributed to the global business community through various research projects in which I participated. As a research assistant for the Dean of the Nottingham University of Business School, our collaborated efforts culminated in revelations that psychic distance perceptions affect the business acquisition process in the context of a Chinese-Swedish negotiation. This tool may have the potential for a competitive business advantage.
Interning at CITIC Securities instilled a competence in a variety of business tools such as SWOT, PEST, and Multiple Criteria Analysis (MCA). My investigation of different consumer groups in the Chinese market revealed glaring inequalities in the progress of the country’s real estate business sphere. In a subsequent internship at D.R. Capital Co. LTD, analysis of past performances property developers starting from 2010 enabled a five-year forecast of purchasing trends. These tools proved invaluable for business managers and entrepreneurs operating in the international trade environment. I believe the experience I gathered provides this student with valuable skills and a basic understanding of how most companies operate. It is the some of the inspiration to continuing education at USC. The love of math and numbers, in general, is also the inspiration to continue my educational path at USC at Los Angeles. What I have discovered in the process is that I have the heart of a teacher. I lead with the purpose of encouraging, engaging and empowering each student I meet. I have the patience to teach students to appreciate the tools that provide valuable insights that come with large data analysis programs. This move will prepare for a dream job as a quantitative fund trader. I eagerly await your reply.
