Q 2
I picked the person with a tag labeled number 6. Suspect number 6 I selected was very familiar to the real bomber who was at the top of the roof. They had almost the same height and face. In the first case I knew, the person at the crime scene had a young face and the only person who resembled the suspect was holding the number 6 tag (The Eye Witness Test, 2018). While picking the suspect, I was very much sure that he must be on the line and I could not make a mistake of letting the criminal walk away with such a crime. I was initially under pressure of identifying the criminal along with the line of six suspects who resembled the perpetrator. My memory was destructed, and I was not very sure of the person I saw on top of the roof. I was not told that the perpetrator might not be on the line and I had a task to send the perpetrator to prison. I was very confident that the perpetrator must appear on the line since the police had done their part of assembling the suspect. Number 6 was very familiar to the initial perpetrator, and I was very confident that my memory cannot betray my judgment.
Q 4
An eyewitness can make a mistake of selecting the wrong person as the perpetrator of a crime. I believe it is a mistake that is common among numerous eyewitnesses since they are not given the possibility of understanding that the perpetrator can be absent. In the initial case of identifying the suspect out of the six on the line, I had a fixed mind that he must be on the line.
Wait! Eye witness paper is just an example!
The rape case in the video is a situation of the wrong identity that resulted from memory destruction and overconfidence in selecting the rapist (Eyewitness testimony, 2009. If the eyewitness was told earlier in advance that the rapist might not be among the suspects, she could not have had a fixed mind of identifying the suspect among the photos. It is imperative that law officers who convict various criminals should provide a possibility of the suspect being absent from the line. The eyewitness sometimes can undergo memory destruction and the identified person should not be sent to prison without further investigation. Generally, DNA test is the best alternative that can be adopted instead of an eyewitness to identify a perpetrator without the possibility of making mistakes and falsely sending an innocent person to prison.
