Urban expansion (a)
The geographical area A which is in the northwestern region is most likely mountainous. The area also contains water collection points that serve as the sources of the river tributaries that flow the main river southwards. Thus, it can be referred to as the watershed region of the river. Due to the geographical importance and the terrain of the area, Dhaka city expansion may be limited. The main reason is that the part serves as an essential water collection point for the Dhaka city ecosystem. On the other hand, the expansion may have other adverse effects that may include waste release to the water source. The development can only be achieved if the city is appropriately constructed to the southwestern region. The city must also include mitigation measures for water contamination (Das and Saikia 15).
Watershed (c)
Area C which is located in northern part of the map is also a watershed region for the tributaries that flow to the southern region of the map. In an ecosystem, watershed areas are vital since they serve as water collection points and as the sources of many rivers (Das and Saikia 1). In this case, the tributaries feed the eastern bound river. The river can be attributed to the development and growth of Dhaka city. Additionally, the area appears to be hilly with valleys that allow the continuous flow of the tributaries. The man river relies on this region for it to have a constant stream of fresh water.

Destruction of the area would have adverse effects that can lead to the reduction of clean water in the main river. The river ecosystem would also be affected which would influence the growth of vital vegetation.
