DownloadThe article explains how the use of language is often related to the professionalism that a person has. For example, people who do not speak good English are seen to be unprofessional just because of their use of language. They might be the best but other people tend to believe that one who does not speak good English is a quack and they cannot do a good job as well. That is a myth and it has been attached to the people that are from rural areas, those that are not well educated, and the minor communities as well. People tend to use the language according to their regions. Therefore, languages tend to differ from different people.
Some people have very good English language while others are very poor in the language (Preston 140). People also tend to group themselves according to their language. That is because the people that have high standards believe that other people should speak as they do. Those with good dialect tend to look down upon those with a poor dialect. That is because they believe that one’s language describes the standard that a person has.
One of my cousins moved to a new school that was in an urban center. She was from rural areas where dialect was not much considered. In her new school, people were very keen on language and dialect as well. The other students could laugh at her every time she was speaking since they found her dialect funny and bad as well. That made it very difficult for her since she was always afraid of talking. She could not even make friends since everyone was always making fun of her dialect.
Wait! How the use of language is often related to the professionalism that a person has paper is just an example!
