Which environment factors did Hurricane Rita Affect? Discuss
As it would be expected of any other similar natural disaster, Hurricane Rita had a significant implication on the environment. Lake Charles which was initially composed of beautiful oak and pine trees was destroyed to the extent that trunks could be seen lying everywhere. The hurricane caused a kind of deforestation as it destroyed so many trees. Also, the noises that followed as chain saws cleared the fallen trunks and sounds of crews who were trying to repair what was repairable dominated the place. It became too noisy such that it was no longer comfortable staying since the crews operated day and night.
How were the HR functions affected by the Hurricane Rita?
The hurricane Rita greatly destroyed both large and small businesses. They lost a large number of workers, an issue that affected their operations. As an after month, the HR was faced with the great task of trying to find new workers to start off the business operations again. The conducted numerous recruitments in the bid to hire a new workforce (Thomas & Zhou, 2013). Also, considering that the hired workers had little or no experience. Therefore, the HR had a duty to train them so that they can at least understand the basics of the job. The other important function of HR that was affected was regarding salaries. Since the number of workers available was few, they demanded high wages. Therefore, the HR had a duty to review the payments to meet the demands of the new workers.

Do you believe the HR situations described regarding Hurricane Rita would be typical of a disaster? Explain
I believe that the described HR situation would be typical of a disaster. This is because disasters cause destructions of business, deaths and mass migration of people as they run to find safer places to live. This causes a low availability of workers at a time when the demand of work is too high since the businesses are looking to reconstruct their operations (Thomas & Zhou, 2013).
