My qualities as a Leader
I am a firm believer of the saying that leaders are not created but born. I have always had a passion for helping the people around me regardless of the relationship between them and me. This is because of the firm conviction that drives me into doing what needs to be done to help those around me. It is for this reason that I have always taken every opportunity that I have towards initiating an activity that allows those that need any help I can offer.
A perfect example of the many things that I have created in my community was helping young children to get the best out of the library services. A leader needs to be observant of the challenges that those around them suffer from and be able to chip in and help. I was able to note that the children visiting my town library never get the help they needed in accessing books. I came up with a solution of sacrificing my time and volunteer at the library with the intention of providing the children the support they needed.
The library had many activities and accommodating a children’s program was very difficult. I, however, put my negotiation and diplomacy traits into practicing by negotiating with the library management of a way through which a unique program that allowed children to access their books from a specific section of the library and I was the one going to manage that article and the management accepted my idea. In my volunteering work, I was faced with many challenges, and one of them was the frequent misunderstandings and arguments by the children.

I was, however, keen to apply my conflict management skills in solving the disagreements.
I attribute the success of my volunteering work in helping the children to my leadership qualities. Through my leadership, I was able to come up with a new idea, sacrifice my time and to go further to solve children related conflicts at the library.
