Mobile Technologies in Research
The excellent features of smartphones such as their portability and support for programs through mobile applications provide for solutions in research. While collecting data, smartphones allow researchers to connect with their fellows and at the same time enhance data collection and generation. Mobile phones are flexible in real-time communication, which is significant for businesses benefits like colleague interaction through text messages, email communication and delivery of reports in time. Mobile phones replaced laptops and the traditional paperwork regarding speed and accessibility. The organizations should use smartphones with internal sensors that can collect data through physical movements through gyroscopes, GPS, and accelerometers (Poynter 11). Two of the main internets supported software that the organization can use in mobile research is Digital Trace Data and Microsoft Kinect.
Microsoft Kinetic uses infrared sensors that track movements and validate mobile data in long distances. Using the software, researchers can deliver information through the internet using mobile data. When in the field, researchers can interconnect the mobile phones with wearable devices like smart cameras using a wireless connection. Team members can easily communicate in different locations through the central server (Volpp 3).
Digital Trace Data is also another smartphone feature that the organization can use. The software complements data from personal mobile phones.

It captures important data from the smartphone users’ online activities. Therefore, it will be easier to monitor communication amongst researchers and reconnect them in case those in case they lose track of each other online (Volpp 4). The software leaves a digital footprint on the activities and data transmitted through mobile devices to the organization’s central server.
The mobile data support and communication software are significant in the research process because they ease communication between researchers. Moreover, they aid in immediate data transfer from wearable devices to mobile phones or the central server for analysis.
