National Development Plan 2017 – 2021 in Ecuador

Rights for all throughout life 

This axis is oriented to guarantee the fulfillment of the rights of citizens throughout their lives, without any distinction or discrimination, providing priority protection to the most vulnerable groups. In addition, it proposes the fight against poverty and gender violence, with the purpose of eradicating these social problems and promotes respect and care of nature.

It should be noted that, within this axis three objectives are framed, which will be detailed below:

Objective 1: guarantee a decent life with equal opportunities for all people

This objective is based on the right to have a dignified life, providing people with access to all basic services such as health, food, nutrition, drinking water, housing, environmental sanitation, safe habitat, education and work, with the purposeto improve their living conditions;In addition, it guarantees equal opportunities and social security. It also focuses on the fight against malnutrition including malnutrition, overweight and obesity problems, healthy habits are promoted, whose purpose lies in reducing the incidence of chronic diseases. Objective 2: affirm the interculturality and multiculturality by revaluing the various identities

It emphasizes respect for existing cultural diversity in our country, revaluing ancestral knowledge and making them part of educational, health and environmental processes;It also highlights the importance of preserving ancestral territories and cultural heritage.

In addition, this would allow observing a greater advance in the struggle to achieve an inclusive society, through the eradication of social exclusion, racism, machismo, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination.

Objective 3: Guarantee the rights of nature for current and future generations

He mentions the care and respect that should be given to nature, highlighting the importance of maintaining an ecologically balanced environment for the benefit of current and future health, so it is important to educate new generations about the importance of the importance oftake care of the environment. Within this objective, it is also proposed to reduce the deforestation and environmental pollution that are usually produced by the human being, through environmental education in order to generate commitment to citizens to act in a responsibility against the management of natural heritage including its earthly biodiversityand marina.
