Educating Men and Women for Others
Fr. Pedro Arrupe had the motto of “educating men and women for others.” The motto was associated with the Jesuits and Marymount schools. It meant that the members of the society needed adequate knowledge that could ensure that they assisted the less fortunate in the society. Additionally, Fr. Pedro Arrupe had once said, “our prime educational objective must be to form men and women for others, who believe that a love of self or of God which does not issue forth in justice for the least of their neighbors is a farce.’ The statement meant that individuals had to have the love for themselves and also love God. However, the process of loving oneself and for God should not make them forget the others in the society who are in an adverse situation due to lack of justice due to poverty. Therefore, it is recommended that the Jesuits and other members of the society should support the less fortunate in the society.
Love should prevail among the members of the society despite the difference in the social classes, religion, race or any other differentiating factor. Additionally, selfishness should be avoided for peaceful living in the society. Injustices have occurred due to the greed of the powerful in the society who aims at acquiring properties that belonged to the poor and powerless. Most people engage in an activity through quantifying what he or she will gain. Thus, many problems have occurred in the society since individual assists the less fortunate focusing on the property that they may be owning.

For instance, people have assisted other and later taken their pieces of land. Therefore, Fr. Arrupe had observed this practice and hence called for justice and love for the less fortunate in the society (Holman, 2014). The argument showed that we all needed each other. Isolation of individuals to focus on satisfying one’s needs and desire can be referred to be a farce.
The motto and teaching have been followed some people in the society, and their love for the less fortunate in the society has been amazing. They have fought for justice for the less fortunate in the society and thus making their lives better. They have kept aside love for money, reputation, and social class to ensure that they have made the poor happier. Eunice is a good example of those who work for the justice of the less fortunate in the society. She is a lawyer who specializes in cases based on family matters. In 2014, she realized that most children who have lost one or both of their parents go through a lot of suffering. For instance, when one of the parents die, the other parent may opt to be married or marry another spouse. The situation sometimes causes mistreatment of the child, and some may end up being stressed and run away from their homes. In such a case, Eunice goes to court seeking for better treatment of the child and the provision of essential commodities so that he or she can continue with school.
Eunice also started a children’s home for the children who have lost all the parents. Such children may have difficulty in life since no one is there to offer the basic commodities. She uses the home to host these children where she provides food and other essential commodities that could enable them to continue schooling. In all these acts, Eunice earns nothing. Therefore, she is a role model who demonstrates justice for the least of her neighbors.
