Rudiments of nursing practice
Competency in the nursing practice puts into view the application of professional standards in the nursing field to facilitate quality care. It is expected for the nurses to always exhibit competency when according care to patients and when working together with the colleagues (Masters 3). Two rudiments that I have observed with my colleagues include evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning.
Clinical reasoning in the nursing practice that puts in-depth analysis into view when it comes to making decisions. It entails engaging in self-assessment, reflection, engaging in research and engaging in consultations to ensure that adequate choices are made in the medical setting especially when it comes to providing proper treatment to patients (Masters 3). My colleagues abide by this rudiment whereby they often engage in consultations with fellow colleagues on sensitive issues pertaining care. They also engage patients in their treatment and medication to ensure that they receive adequate services and care.
Evidence-based practice includes the nurses employing evidence from research activities when providing care. It is important to note that best clinical practices are frequently updated which makes it important to nurses to align with the incoming new evidence-based practices. It includes using practices which are backed-up by evidence to meet the needs of patients and when making decisions (Buttaro et.al 1).

When according care to patients, my colleagues employ the evidence-based practice rudiment when providing guidance to patients on their treatment. They use evidence and facts to explain to patients why certain treatment methods are good or bad for their conditions. This makes it easier to convince the patients on the treatment methods and hence enabling cooperation. The rudiment is also employed to prevent legal issues whereby nurses are advised to use credible methods when providing care rather than working on assumptions. The idea is to prevent errors in treatment. Furthermore, some colleagues engage in research or assist other medical professionals on treatment methods that may be employed to ensure quality practice.
