DownloadAlzheimer’s is a type of dementia infection, which cause problems with one’s thinking, behavior and memory (Solomon et al., 2014). Its symptoms usually develop at a slow rate, and they worsen over time and become so severe that they interfere with one’s daily operation. Although the biggest risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease is an increase in one’s age, one is also likely to contract this disease as early as 40 or 50 years of age (Solomon et al., 2014). Alzheimer’s disease patients usually experience some common causes of chronic and acute pain, while some have nociceptive and neuropathic pains. In this case, they require maximum support from the society with a careful assessment and management, so that they receive the correct level and type of analgesia(Solomon et al., 2014).
Provision of community service is a matter of self-interest, and no one can force another person to conduct any community-related activity. With the current rise in the population of the elderly individuals in the society, the public needs to be enlightened on certain complexities that may come with aging. In this case, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common problem that the elderly people are likely to face and the society should be encouraged to help these older people and not neglect them (Gaugler, Yu, Davila & Shippee, 2014). Through the Alzheimer’s walk, the society is likely to make contributions that will support the elderly. From these contributions from the Alzheimer’s walk, the community may construct homes for the elderly and help these people get analgesia for the pains brought by the disease.

Through the Alzheimer’s walk, people work together as a team to ensure that this group of individuals affected by Alzheimer’s is assisted in every way possible (Gaugler, Yu, Davila & Shippee, 2014). The walk is organized by a collaboration of different people and organizations, which fund the entire program.

Health education is administered in the process of health promotion (Solomon et al., 2014). In this case, both programs are used to improve access to health care related information and services to enable the people to have more control over their well-being and their individual health. Through programs such as the Alzheimer’s walk, people are educated about the risks associated with Alzheimer’s disease and measure used to assist the people affected. This project aims to assist the community in promoting health care among the elderly people within the society and not neglect them due to the complexities that they are facing. Many people are not aware of the Alzheimer’s disease that affect the elderly people, and through this initiative, they were able to understand some of the problems that these people face. Personally, I learned that the society is always ready to participate and learn about their health, and therefore the government and the medical institutions should organize more programs to ensure that the community is always enlightened on any arising health progress.
As a member of the community, I have the responsibility to enlighten the people on the health concerns that are facing the community and assist the people in finding ways of improving health care. Through participation in such program, the community has trusted me as a nursing student to help the community acquire knowledge on Alzheimer’s disease and other health concerns that affect the community.
The society has the right to know to access information about the health care of the community (Solomon et al., 2014). Moreover, they have the right of accessing quality care, thus through programs such as the Alzheimer’s walk, the member of the community are likely to acquire more knowledge on Alzheimer’s disease, and the affected elderly people can gain from the Alzheimer’s walk contributions.
