The importance of setting goals

Since when I was young, I have been taught the value of goal setting and I have developed a habit of setting both short-term and long-term goals. The short-term goals are objectively aimed at facilitating my long goals. I can classify the goals into two categories, first are the personal growth goals and the second is the professional growth goals. I have set my long-term goal to be a professional chief engineer at Tesla motor company. By achieving the little short-term goals on my personal development and academics, both my actions and attitudes are synchronously leading me toward that professional path. I have gained a lot of insight on various things regarding that profession, and I believe I am heading in the right direction. For a long time, I have been dreaming of an environment with little pollution from the motor industry. Tesla innovations are leading the way in providing solutions to the zero-emission vehicle in this industry (Eberhard 1). I will be thrilled when I become part of it. Being a chief engineer in Tesla motor company will be my biggest fulfillment that will happen in my life, and I will endeavor to use my knowledge to provide high-end solutions that will benefit the industry and save the world from pollution.
Setting goals is a significant process in our lives. It is difficult to move on swiftly with life when we don’t have goals. They act as the motivations that fuel us to live purposefully, to get up in the morning and look forward to seeing another day.

Without goals, we would be living aimlessly and tolerate whatever comes in our lives. However, planning and setting goals make us focus on important things that are significant in our lives. A goal is measurable in terms of progress and amount of time it will take to complete. As a result, achieving this goal calls for a constant push which makes us avoid procrastination and at the same time experience the joy of fulfilling what we had set. The progress is not only helpful to us but also to those who take us for a role model.
