The precarious education system in Ecuador

 Knowledge is inherent in the human being and its development for centuries has made it a very powerful weapon, capable of winning wars in different fields. Education not only represents a weapon but a tool, since it allows you to acquire knowledge of the environment and provide many positive things in our lives. There is so the importance of education in the world that countries constantly seek ways to improve their teaching quality, give it to all people. Therefore, worldwide student evaluation (PISA) applies, which yields the results of the education status of several countries, whose hierarchy is measured through a ranking in which Ecuador does not appear. Fact that allows verifying the bad education system that the country manages compared to other countries that thanks to it have developed.

Education since antiquity has allowed the progress of society and is one of the main reasons why it is sought to be given to all people. Such is its importance that opens the way to solving problems, a better use of language for clear and effective communication with others, the optimization of everyday life through the creation of new products that facilitate certain actions and according to Martínez (2013): Education "helps, not only to the intellectual development of a country, but to the decrease in poverty, since men, women and families raise their standard of living" (P.1) And also that according to Isaza (2015) ensures that it is an instrument that allows equality and progress, the possibility of improving at the level of living of people.

It can be affirmed that education is one of the issues that must be addressed as a priority in all countries. And without a doubt, it has allowed promotion and development in areas such as science, technology, medicine and more. In short, education not only serves to have more knowledge of things since it also allows the progress of the country and the decrease in poverty.

There is currently the International Program for Student Evaluation (PISA) which: PISA (S.f) It measures academic performance in science, reading and mathematics worldwide to students aged 15 every 3 years, this helps countries to improve their education policies if necessary, since this does not evaluate the student ifNO TO THE SYSTEM OF YOUR EDUCATION. The most recent example is the last study in 2018 in which China was positioned as first place followed by Singapore and Macao, while in Latin America their positions are “Brazil (57), Colombia (58), Argentina (63), Peru (64), Panama (71) and the Dominican Republic (76), and were left out of Bolivia, Cuba, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Venezuela.”(AFP, 2019). Which these data become unfortunate for the country that we fail to be in the study, but thanks to “Andreas Schleicher, (…) he pointed out that Ecuador will participate in 2021 in Pisa. “(National Institute for Educational Evaluation, 2017) which allows us to improve our level of education to be able to achieve some good position in the ranking and not be a disappointment as education.

Education in Ecuador due to its deficiency and under political interest has not allowed progress to be students to expand their horizons. The under the performance that students have in the country has been represented in the 2018-D PISA tests in which 70.9 of the students did not reach the basic level of mathematics. Ecuador’s average performance was 377 over 1000.According to the newspaper El Universo, students with a high socioeconomic level have 3.2 times more likely to reach at least level 2 in mathematics. (Universe, 2019). Taking into account that the rate of people who have resources to study is low, and that the budget for study is not even half compared to other countries allows to verify and consolidate the low interest in the development of education.

Recapitulating education is essential for the human being, which causes it to be a driver of countries development. And according to the data obtained in this essay, the deficiency in the education of our country compared to the others can be noticed, which would explain that our country due to the lack of resources and interest of the State does not develop optimally or move forward to theexpected rhythm. This is why education is important for the development of citizen people and the world.
