Introduction
The story “Why I Hunt” by Rick bass is a detailed story that captures the attention of the readers by appealing to the rhetoric devices ethos, pathos, and logos. It gives the reader the perspective of a passionate hunter and what hunting feels like. The story begins by detailing the author connection that he made with the forest, and he describes the forest with intense emotion by carefully choosing his words (Bass 743). He details his personate love for hunting, and it helps him develop a type of imagination that is impossible for the non-hunters to perceive or obtain. His emotional description of the forest helps the reader to paint a cognitive picture of what the forest looks like. It gives the notion of how nature can reawaken a person imagination.
Bass in the story appeals to logos by showing the manner in which human beings human beings have become preoccupied with instant gratification that they have come to lose their sense of imagination. It is this reason that human beings have come to confuse anticipation with imagination (Bass 745). In a logical perspective, the author displays the essence active imagination to human lives and experience
On the other hand, the story informs on ethos by presenting a somewhat controversial notion of hunting. Hunting is one of the concepts that have been fought against in recent years. However, the author chooses to use the unethical idea to capture the attention of the readers.

He wants to present the actual need for human beings to be rational in their behaviors by focusing on their imagination which can change society more possibly. He takes hunting more as an art and uses it to persuade people to have more connection with nature. He justifies hunting to make it an ethical argument that is instrumental in informing the society.
Bass also appeals on pathos by showing a rather emotional connection with forest and the art of hunting. The manner in which he described the forest and its beauty is passionate. For instance, he says, “The dense purples of the spruce and fir forests.” This shows his high appreciation for nature and all it holds.
Conclusion
Bass story is a rather appealing story that extends the cognitive perception of people to incorporate nature. It is a story that is written to make people have an appreciation of life and all it holds.
